Privacy policy

What we collect when you use this website, what we do with it, and how to ask us for a copy or have it deleted. Last updated 25 August 2026.

This policy covers Kocev Services (NZBN verified, EWRB #119850), an Auckland electrical and HVAC business, and the website at kocevservices.co.nz. We handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its information privacy principles.

We are a small owner-operated business. We collect the information we need to quote and do the work you have asked about, and nothing beyond it.

What we collect

Information you give us. The enquiry form asks for your name, a phone number and the kind of job you need. An email address and the free-text details field are optional. If you call, text, email or message us on WhatsApp instead, we hold whatever you choose to tell us in that message.

Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, sees the IP address of every request to this site and uses it to serve the page, block abuse and rate limit the enquiry form. When you submit an enquiry, the email we receive carries the approximate city Cloudflare associates with that IP address, so we know roughly where a job is before we call you back. It is a city, not a street address, and we do not store the IP address itself.

What we deliberately do not collect. The form has no account, no password and no payment field. We do not ask for your address, and if you type one into the details box it goes to our inbox and nowhere else.

How we use it

  • To call or email you back about the job you enquired about.
  • To quote the work, book it in, and keep a record of what was done at your property, which is part of certifying electrical work.
  • To send you an automatic acknowledgement, if you gave us an email address, confirming that your enquiry arrived.
  • To keep the form usable, by stopping automated submissions.

We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not add you to a mailing list. If we ever want to use it for something other than the job you contacted us about, we will ask you first.

Where an enquiry goes

An enquiry submitted on this site is checked for automated abuse and then emailed straight to our own inbox. The website itself keeps no database of enquiries: there is nothing on this server for anyone to read later.

Three service providers are involved in getting it there, and each sees only what it needs to:

  • Cloudflare hosts the site, delivers the enquiry email, and runs Turnstile, the box that confirms you are not a bot. Turnstile is a privacy-preserving alternative to a CAPTCHA: it does not ask you to identify traffic lights and it does not track you across other websites.
  • Google Tag Manager loads our analytics on the live site. See the next section for what it is told.
  • Your email provider and ours, in the ordinary way that email works.

Beyond that we share personal information only where we have to: with a supplier or subcontractor who needs it to complete your job, with a regulator such as the Electrical Workers Registration Board where the law requires it, or with our insurer or an adviser if there is a dispute.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own. It has no login, no shopping cart and nothing to remember about you between visits.

The live site loads Google Tag Manager, which runs Google Analytics. That measures things like which pages are read, how people arrive, and roughly where in the world they are, and it may set its own cookies to do so. It is about the traffic to the site, not about you as a customer.

When an enquiry succeeds, we report one event to analytics: that a form was sent, which of the fixed service options was chosen, and whether the optional details box was filled in or left blank. The text of that box is never reported, and neither is your name, phone number or email address. Those go to our inbox and nowhere else.

If you would rather not be measured at all, browsers offer tracking protection and there is a Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site stops working if you use either.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are deleted from our inbox once they are clearly not going anywhere, generally within twelve months.

If we do work for you, we keep the job record for as long as we are required to. Certificates of Compliance and Electrical Safety Certificates have a statutory retention period, and we hold quotes, invoices and the correspondence around them for seven years to meet Inland Revenue requirements.

Keeping it safe

The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Our email accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and access is limited to the people who run the business. No system is perfect, but personal information here sits in an inbox and a set of job records, not in a public-facing database.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong. Both are free, and we will respond within 20 working days.

You can also ask us to delete an enquiry. We will, unless we are required to keep it as part of a job record for the reasons above, in which case we will tell you which part we have to keep and why.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we have a chance to put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Children

This site is aimed at people arranging work on a property. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Other websites

We link out to a few places, including our Builderscrack profile and the regulators named above. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under someone else's privacy policy, and this one no longer applies.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top. There is no archive of previous versions: what is on this page is what applies.

How to reach us

For a copy of your information, a correction, a deletion or anything else in this policy, use whichever of these suits you. Please say it is a privacy request so it does not get read as an enquiry.
